I gained my initial experience working as a Counsellor at the Wolseley Trust in Plymouth, Devon. During my time at the Trust I worked with clients who presented with anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation. I also spent some time working with young people aged between 11 and 18 years in schools. I currently run my own private practice.
My work with the M.E Association, prior to taking on a counselling role, enabled me to connect with clients who often felt stigmatised and had lost hope.
My role with the association and my personal experience enabled me to gain insights into the life of individuals with invisible illnesses many of whom expressed that they often felt rejected when they reached out for support. As a counsellor I aim to ensure that these people are heard.
I have also worked as a nurse in the NHS and Private Sector (2002-2015). Both of these roles have enabled me to gain valuable insight into the difficulties that individuals face when they experience changes in their physical and mental health.
I am passionate about my work as a counsellor and am never failed to be amazed by the growth and change that can occur during the sessions both for myself and my clients.
